Assistive Technology-January 3rd Posting

I found an article on CNN that described a man who was blind, named George Pinon. He says he reads Braille and uses a lot of speech access software to browse the Internet. I thought it was interesting that without these assistive technologies, he wouldn't be able to do everyday activities like going on the computer to search for something. I also read about a person named Sean Forbes on CNN who has many deaf friends and was having a hard time explaining music to them. He created software that lets a deaf person listen to music and the software translates that into sign language so they can still understand what was being sang. This was really cool because without it, many deaf people couldn't listen to music which is really important to me. I found a woman named Sarah Brussel who is blind and uses computers a lot to type letters for her work. She can't look at what she typed afterward so she has a text-to-speech software program on her computer that reads her text to her and lets her know if she made a mistake or not.
